Rada vědeckých společností České republiky / Council of Scientific Societies of the Czech Republic

At present the Council of Scientific Societies of the Czech Republic coordinates 72 scientific societies, representing natural science, medical, social, and technical sciences. They have approximately 34 000 members. Scientific Societies represent an important platform, both within particular fields and in inter-disciplinary terms. They are the only institutions bringing together experts from universities, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and other departmental research institutions. The Societies are a place for the professionals to meet the public interested in a given field, they are open to students of all school levels and provide them with a possibility of informal meetings with scientists and teachers. The Societies are often of inter-disciplinary character, and some of their scientific interests are even not represented in academic or other scientific institutions. Website in Czech and English.

Židovské muzeum v Praze / Jewish Museum in Prague

Present at the establishment of the Jewish Museum in Prague in 1906 were the historian Dr. Hugo Lieben and Dr. Augustin Stein, the representative of the Czech Jewish movement and later head of the Prague Jewish Community. The collapse of the communist regime in 1989 created the necessary conditions that led to a change in the Museum´s status. On October 1, 1994, the Museum buildings and collections were returned to the Jewish Community of Prague and the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic respectively. At the same time, the Jewish Museum took on new life as a non-state organization. Website in Czech, English and many other world languages.

Moravská genealogická a heraldická společnost / Moravian Genealogical and Heraldic Society

The Moravian Genealogical and Heraldic Society (MGHS) in Brno is the only society of this kind in Moravia devoted to genealogy and heraldry. Every year the organization conducts approximately 10 lectures at which some leading experts from the Czech Republic and Slovakia inform our members and other interested individuals about the latest findings and conclusions of their studies in genealogical, heraldic, and other related areas (coins, medals, orders, flags, banners, etc.).The Society also organises day trips by coach all over the Czech Republic and to some neighbouring states to visit the places not only of genealogical and heraldic features but also of general and national history and geography. From its origin the GHK has issued the “Genealogical and Heraldic Information“ (GHI), at first quarterly, later annually. The Society sets up, besides its specialist library, also its archives of photographs of various genealogical and heraldic sights, such as tombstones, memorial plaques, coats of arms and badges on buildings, paintings, and the like.  Website in Czech, English and German.
