Czech scenography first league presented in Columbus, USArecommended
Czech theatre returns to the Columbus Museum of Art in Ohio. The exhibition Shakespeare in Prague: Imagining the Bard in the Heart of Europe showcases scenographic designs, photographs, costumes and models related to important Czech productions of William Shakespeare’s plays from the early 20th century until nowadays. The exhibition is organized by the Columbus Museum of Art in cooperation with the Arts and Theatre Institute and the National Museum.
The exhibition has a chronological order. However, it is not its objective to describe the development in detail; it aims to draw attention to main personalities, who have fundamentally influenced the use and impact of scenography on the course of the production. Key productions are demonstrated on original scenic and costume designs, photographs, scenic models, real stage properties and costumes.
The exhibition is on view from February 10, 2017 to May 21, 2017 in the CMA. Then it will travel to Texas to University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio and will be on view from July 10 to September 30, 2017.
